Getting Back To Nature Is Getting Back To Good

One thing I know is that nature always has been and always will be – there. It has been there since the very beginning of time and there it shall remain until the end of time. If you really stop to think about it nature is a blessing we take for granted. Okay, not everybody and not all of the time. However, there are times we really don’t stop to ‘smell the roses’ like we should.

How did I miss it?

I live in the midwestern portion of the United States. We have lots of agricultural land, trees, hills, rivers and lakes and many other forms of nature.  Walking outside and just looking around and you can be drenched in natures bounty. In this part of the country one can also miss what is right in front of us. We humans tend to be so busy in our daily walks that we forget to stop and look around.

One interesting thing I have come to know is that there are literally millions of people in this country alone that have not witnessed nature’s true beauty. To me, that would be a sad reality. I really cannot imagine walking out the door and not seeing trees, grass, crops-basically lots of green.

I must admit that there are definitely times that I simply miss it. It’s all right in front of me, but I get so busy with everything life brings that I forget to stop and ‘smell the roses’.

The weather can be beauty and the beast

Here in the midwest portion of the US we get all kinds of weather. Sure we get the usual four seasons, but those seasons can be pretty volatile sometimes (the beast). It’s not hard to grow weary of the seasons. Take for example our Spring weather, talk about a roller coaster ride. Conditions change in the springtime at least from day to day, if not sometimes from hour to hour. Not much constant at all.

With these crazy swings it can be really easy fall out of love with the weather. On the other hand, if we would stop and pay attention there’s loads of beauty, even in the bad weather. I love to watch storms in the spring and summer, from a distance that is. Seeing those huge thunderheads miles away with lightening flashing through it is absolutely beautiful.

Ever see a rainbow after a storm rolls through? How about a double rainbow? That is such a beautiful sight in so many ways, and it comes after the storm. The best part is that it’s a reminder of the promise God made to never flood the earth again. Nature is so very good.

Nature’s beauty is everywhere

Ever do any traveling to different parts of the country or world? I’ll bet it looks a little, or a lot, different than it does where you live. You can travel just a few hours and you can see drastically different landscapes. Sometimes you have to travel much farther to see something different and often times unique. No matter what the distance, the fact that there’s such natural diversity is awesome.

I love to travel to new places and see things I haven’t experienced before. Thinking back to the last several years I feel like I’ve been blessed to see what I have. Crazy thing is though, my family and I have only seen but a small percentage of the beauty this world has to offer. Well, I guess there’s a couple of things that get in the way sometimes: time & money.

Go outside and take a deep breath

Well, only do that if the weather is nice outside and you don’t have allergies. What I mean is, every once in a while it will do you good to stop and ‘smell the roses’. We make our lives so busy that we really have to intentionally stop what we are doing and embrace the beauty of nature. It is literally right in front of us, no matter where we are.

Getting back to nature is good in many ways. So many in fact that I’m sure I’d miss several if I tried to name them. The one thing I know for sure is if you get in a rut and need something to get you out, try some nature. Step outside and take a deep breath of fresh air, go for a nature walk, go fishing, take someone with you on a picnic. The possibilities are really endless. Getting back to nature is doing good, especially for you!
