The medical community has been under intense pressure as the country deals with serious health concerns that have plagued this country. The popular doll company found a way to step up and honor those who have given their all in the past six months.
American Girl Dolls doing good for front line workers
American Girl Dolls ran the “Heroes with Heart,” contest which called on the country for nominations. Moreover, the Mattel company received thousands of nominations. However, the one that stuck out to them was sent by EMT paramedic April O’Quinn’s niece.
Moreover, the doll company chose O’Quinn to represent the frontline heroes who continue to risk their lives to help others. O’Quinn’s niece Lacey is in Texas and is always talking about her Aunt April, who works for the Richmond Ambulance Authority. When she nominated April, she told the company that her aunt ended up getting sick, but after she recovered, she decided to return.

Lacey was able to tell her aunt the exciting news. “Lacey was on the other side, screaming that we had won! I was in shock,” April told WTVR news. “I had no words. Lacy ended up crying because she couldn’t say anything.”
Moreover, as the winner, Lacey received a $250 gift card and a custom doll and outfit in their hero’s likeness. The doll company started selling American Girl outfit in honor of all medical workers. The “scrubs outfit” comes with pink scrub pants, nurses’ top, slip-on shoes, and a face mask. While the doll is not available in stores, both Lacey and April hope it will one day be sold, and the proceeds are donated to a worthy cause.
