The ongoing pandemic is acting more like a catalyst to trigger a tectonic shift in work culture. Companies are exploring and experimenting to make operation more robotic and some have already deployed robots to create a safer environment.

Are we heading towards a future more dependent on superfast robots?Possibly, but feasibility and acceptability in terms of job loss will decide the speed at which this shift happens.

Tally: The Robotic Helper

Humans are conditioned for efficient evolution and the increasing popularity of Tally—a robot manufactured by Simbe robotics- is showing exactly how robots will help society in times to come. In the current situation when companies are struggling to create a safe environment, Tally is proving itself to be a perfect workmate, with zero chances of infection and no sign of stress.

Tally scans grocery shelves and makes a perfect calculation to restock in time. It will also help the staff do more important works, according to the CGTN report. It is helping the store save time and makes shopping less stressful.

“Tally knows precisely where every product resides in a store, so the location data is valuable both to customers and shoppers…,” CGTN quoted Simbe Co-founder and CEO Brad Bogolea as saying.

Equipped to Perform Better

The 2D and 3D sensors of Tally capture images, just like the human mind does, using machine learning technology. The precision and depth perception is really impressive, the report noted.

It is more like a one-man army in charge of stock, customer support, and supply with very high operational efficiency.

“Retailers are seeing a unique opportunity for automation to add resiliency to their supply chain,” Bogolea was quoted as saying.

Visualizing the vulnerability of humans in handling high-risk tasks like disinfection, several robotic companies are introducing innovative products to make human life safe.

LightStrike—a virus-zapping robot manufactured by Xenex does disinfection job much better.

“We are actually 100% confident that LightStrike can kill all types of virus,” CGTN quoted Xenex CEO Morris Miller as saying.

The company has also seen over 600% jump in business in recent months.  The report noted adding that hospitals, hotels, and food packaging industries are the main buyers.

Robots can do good, but the people who are making the robots are the real do gooders. Automation is the wave of the future and the future is here. The challenge before us is to see how we can use automation and robots to be a force for good. Feel free to share your ideas of how humans and robots can do good together.
