The city has launched the Resurgence Grant Fund; it’s a new program to help Atlanta small businesses recover. The fund will provide grants to Atlanta businesses to help cover qualifying financial losses caused by the current economic situation.

“The City of Atlanta’s motto is Resurgence — Latin for ‘rising again.’ Resurgence is more than an emblem. It is part of the One Atlanta way, coming together as one community to support each other in times of need,” said Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. “As COVID-19 continues to challenge Atlanta’s small businesses and the communities that depend on them, the Resurgence program will provide funds to help businesses operate safely and protect their employees as our city recovers together.”

Grant will cover a variety of needs.

There are several funding levels available to those who qualify. The first level gives out $40,000 to cover the costs of business interruptions due to forced closures. Another fund tier will include personal protective equipment and cleaning supplies. The final tier, will provide up to $10,000 of free technical assistance services.

Small businesses based in Atlanta can apply online at investatlanta.com.

Those in need can apply beginning August 10, up until August 31. The city will also be holding webinars discussing the program and application process. The program is funded by an $88 million federal grant given to Atlanta to help those impacted. $22 million was put aside for small businesses and independent professionals. These funds will also be used to support the creative and cosmetology sectors in the community.

It’s great to see the city stepping up and supporting the community, when they need it, especially those who own a small business or work for themselves. Share stories of businesses doing good for other businesses in the comment section below.
