Doing Good: Youth Leaders Raise Funds to Help Homeless Youth

Share:

Do not let anyone look down upon you because you are young but set an example for believers in speech, in life, in love, and purity. Timothy: 4:12.

No one can understand the problems of the youth but the youth themselves. The Youth Health Leadership (YHL) has been at the forefront in addressing issues of the youth. Tallahassee Democrat reports that as a part of a broader Collaborative Project with Capital City Youth Services (CCYS), which serves homeless youth locally, YHL announced raising $1000 for the homeless youth.

Addressing Youth Matters

The group is also making the youth aware of protecting themselves from the pandemic. Card flyers with messages of preventing the spread of the disease are in use in shelters and outreach areas. The project is in partnership with CCYS.

Gina Dozier, CCYS Interim Director, said, “This is such a great collaboration. Part of what I love about this is that it is youth helping other youth, and it is prevention-focused.”

Capital City Youth Services works for promoting the healthy development of youth and families. It provides a purpose, haven, and support to youth and families in the Big Bend area. The project is in its eighth year of existence and focuses on teens between the ages of 14 and 18. It is active in the Tallahassee/Leon County and seeks to promote and improve health and wellness through education and action.

Community Involvement

Youth Health Leadership came under the aegis of Childhood Obesity Prevention and Education (COPE). YHL includes a six-week schedule and includes various heads like total health, eating healthy, physical activity, and health justice. It also incorporates community internship as well as a Collaborative Project in partnership with a community organization.

YHL is a great way to help our youth and their health and well being. This leadership group is doing good for those in need.
